What is Form ITR 2A and who can use it

FORM ITR 2A – THE NEW IT RETURN FORM

As time changes technology also changes and we need to adopt change naturally. The IT department also tried to make user-friendly ITR Forms by simplifying the requirement and introducing customized ITRs.
During this process IT department released an customized ITR Form named as ITR Form 2A. But this form is available for filing Income tax return till the F.Y 2015-16 only.

A. TAX EXEMPTION: For Salaried Employees who receives HRA

1. Who can Use ITR 2A

This form can be used only by Individual or HUF whose income for the F.Y 2015-16 includes –
Salary / Pension Income
Income from More Than 2 House Properties
Income from Other Sources.

2. Who cannot use ITR 2A

This form cannot be used by Individual or HUF whose income for the F.Y 2015-16 includes –
Income from Capital Gains ( ex. Sale of property/Shares)
Income from Business or Profession.
Any resident having income source outside India
Any resident having any asset or signing authority in any account locate outside India.
Any claim of relief / deduction under section 90, 90A or 91.

Conclusion of the Blog:
For more simplification the IT department brought major changes in the ITR form for the F.Y 2016-17(A.Y 2017-18). One such change includes the department merged Old ITR 2, ITR 2A and ITR 3 into a New ITR Form 2. So from this F.Y 2016-17(A.Y 2017-18) the existence of ITR Form 2A is not any more.
